How to get a construction job in Houston Texas.
Hi my name is Lauren. I am 25 years old. I used to work for a construction company in Katy Texas and I now work for a Civil Engineering Company. I am an Auto-CAD drafter now. I miss doing construction. I love the thrill of watching a job come together. I used to decorate clients houses and I used to do a lot of remodeling.
I am way out of date now. I am not up on all the new stuff out there but I love it and I would love to get back into it. Do any of you all know how I can get back into that field?
I love this field. It is my passion and I miss it.
There is a problem though. I am a little 5โ tall white girl and no one will even consider hiring me. They think I can do the work. I will get up and do all the stuff a guy will.
Hi how’s your day going ? I can see you are missing a job you love . A young lady I know took a few carpentry classes ,then went out and bought a table saw …at first many of her friends were worried for her even doubted her. She started a flooring business and is doing fine. Another way to start in with a construction company is to go right to the job site and “get in their face”. be polite, respectful now just start doing small jobs make the coffee , take out the garbage sounds crazy but I have done this and it works . Once the boss knows you are serious and that your not just going to go away he will start talking to you . Don’t walk away on the first “no” and if he turns you down today ,come back tomorrow and the next day sooner or later he will talk to you, he needs to get to know you .Let as many people you can on these sites know you are ready to work it could be just one guy turning you down and the other bosses on the same job sites don’t see you. If you really want it fight hard ,once your in its on your resume and your in for life. Be polite your attitude is very important in this approach . Go Girl “yes you can”
